Description:
T.I.E.S. opened its doors on September 2006 as an English language school
catering to the Japanese and other nationalities in Kyoto City. The
school is situated on the fourth floor of a commercial building that
is strategically located near the city center and is easily accessible
by train, bus or taxi, and other means of land transportation.
The primary aim of the school is to use it as a platform for evangelism,
disciple-making and church planting.
For almost two years now, this project has been generously funded by
Japanese non-Christian, who volunteered to help the pioneering missionaries.
The school is not yet financially stable to support itself completely.
Hence, additional funding is needed to keep it operational.
Job Description:
1. Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the school including
some teaching responsibilities.
2. Developing new programs to expand its services.
3. Promoting the school.
4. Hiring and developing the teachers’ pool.
5. Accept other responsibilities relating to the ministry as may be
necessary from time to time.
Preffered Qualifications:
1. A committed Christian with a heart for the Japanese people.
2. TESOL certified or has a degree in English or other related fields.
3. Basic social skills (willing to learn/adapt to a different culture).

Budget:
Here is a conservative cost estimate for a single missionary
staying for a year. All figures are in Japanese yen (US$1=104 yen =0.633
euro). Health/Accident insurance is not included.
Set-up expense = 350,000
Monthly house rental & utilities
(60,000 x 12) = 720,000
Food (50,000 x 12) = 600,000
Transportation/Communication
(20,000 x 12) = 240,000
TOTAL = JPY 1,910,000

Visa:
One year working holiday visa is recommended for anyone coming
from Australia or England.
Tenure:
At least a year; long-term commitment is encouraged.
About Kyoto City:
It was the capital of Japan for 1,200 years. Large parts of
the city still show the vestiges of the past: traditions, culture and
architecture. It is home to several world heritage sites, famous name-brand
companies (Kyocera, Nintendo, Omron, Panasonic, etc) and the geisha
community.
